Series 800 Community Relations


801 - Statement of Policy

 

It shall be the policy of the Board of Trustees to keep the Merged Area XV community informed of the mission, achievements, needs, and conditions of Indian Hills Community College.  The President of the College shall be responsible for initiating and administrating a continuous program of communication, using appropriate media.

822 - Relations between College Personnel and the Public - Complaints Concerning Indian Hills Community College Personnel

 

Whenever a citizen is aggrieved at the action of any employee, such citizen may give information to the employee’s immediate supervisor. In the event that the matter is not satisfactorily resolved, the appeal process will follow this order:

  1. Other supervisory or administrators in the line of responsibility.
  2. The President of the College or a designee.

831 - Use of Indian Hills Community College Facilities - Use for Private Groups

 

Facilities of Indian Hills Community College, Merged Area XV, may be used by organizations for private groups upon payment of any appropriate rental and provision of liability insurance with Indian Hills Community College listed as an additional insured.  The rental and liability insurance schedule shall be established by the President of the College or designated representative and may be updated from time to time.

835 - Use of Indian Hills Community College Facilities - Gratuities to Personnel Prohibited

 

No gratuities shall be paid to college personnel by organizations using the facilities.

836 - Use of Indian Hills Community College Facilities - Supervision by College Personnel

 

Since the facilities of the community college are public, it is the policy of the Board to make available the use of the facilities by other public organizations serving the general public interest. Liability insurance, with Indian Hills community College as an additional insured, may be required as determined by the President of the College.

The College reserves the right to establish priorities and to restrict the use of its facilities. 

Supervision of the use of facilities shall be accomplished by appropriate College personnel as designated by the President of the College.

837 - Use of Indian Hills Community College Facilities - Loan of College Equipment

 

Equipment of Indian Hills Community College shall not be loaned outside of the College except in case of emergency and with approval of the President of the College.  In the event that equipment is used by organizations within the College buildings, appropriate College personnel shall operate or supervise the use of such equipment.  When damage or loss is sustained, the using organization shall reimburse the College.  Reimbursement shall be determined by the President of the College.

842 - Community Activities Involving Students - Money Raising and Promotional Activities at Indian Hills Community College

 

No activity requiring students and teachers to assist in promoting campaigns, (financial, educational, charitable, political, religious, or otherwise), which demands the time of students, teachers, and administrators, shall be permitted, except as hereinafter provided, unless the same shall be in accord with the general policies of the Board of Trustees.

No agent or person, or persons shall be permitted to solicit any student or teacher for any purpose, or distribute circulars, handbills, cards, or advertisements of any kind or make announcements of any nature, or take up contributions on the premises of Indian Hills Community College, Merged Area XV, for any purpose whatsoever, except by approval from the President of the College, as being in accord with the general policies of the Board of Trustees.

Participation by students in charity activities is considered to be a desirable part of their total education.  However, the President of the College, and appropriate college administrators should use discretion by allowing limited charitable initiatives within any given year.
